Night Rides

It is that time once more folks.

Dark woods
Bright lights
Muddy trails
Fiery drinks
Misty breath
Starry skies
Broad smiles

Hello everyone how are you this fine day? I should really be writing this in the style of a Pirate, yes September 19th has come around again and I am celebrating International speak like a Pirate day, my twitter and face book feeds have been done under the masquerade of Capt Si of the Pirate ship Onone, well it is good fun and makes me and other smile.

Night Rides.

Tonight was my first Night ride of winter 2011, it was a pretty simple and short ride mostly to test the lights and get a feel for everything ready for Dusk til Dawn in October, and well I am impressed with the new set up, the head torch really makes it easier to corner at speed as you can look into the bend.

This is a rough idea of how much light I am putting down.

I stopped out on the trail to test another important part of my night riding equipment my hip flask, well it will come into it's own as we tread deeper into winter and the temperature really drops, although it was quite mild out once I stopped at the benches I could feel it cooling down, not a lot but enough.

I cant wait to head out again and for the weather to turn frosty, maybe even some snow.

Ouch.

Okay I have not been feeling so great recently as I posted in my last entry, well I have been dragging a semi cold out for over a month now and it has left me with almost no energy at all and just recently I have been carrying a shoulder injury.....okay I am going to swallow my pride here and tell you how I got it, truth is just too funny.

It was just over a week ago now, the weather had not been great but the Saturday morning was the first in ages and the promise of a pre dawn ride was enough to get me setting the alarm to head out.
At 5am the alarm went off and I lifted my head from the pillow and reached out for the alarm...it was a little out of reach...I stretched further, too far, my legs were tangled in the duvet heaven only knows what I was doing last night but by now gravity was having it's way with my as I fell into the bedroom floor shoulder first with an audible thump and crunching of my shoulder.

Well suffice to say I went back to bed as it was just too painful and tried to sleep it off, in fact it kept me from the bike for several days and being honest it is far from healed even now a over a week on, but I will soldier on and see how it goes I have been resting a fair bit giving my self time to work on my winter program and get something down on paper, so far it is looking good and I am sure i will see and make some real progress this winter, lets just hope I don't have anymore..."incidents"

I have managed to get out with my camera a little more last week, not had the time or energy recently but I will step out for more photo's real soon, so far the D300s is flipping amazing and I love it...I still miss my D200 though,  I am hoping to get some racing pics at Dusk Til Dawn in October. The photo above I feel the greens are way too over saturated I can tweak it down a tad but I just like the bright colors.

Well that is all for now, I am hoping to get along to a craft fair in Exeter this coming weekend and  get out and ride some more weather permitting but for now lights are on charge and I am feeling my mojo returning.

Simon.
