Hiya everyone hope March is finding you well, I thought I would post up a quick updates about the past week. Before I get down t things I have a request if I may, I am trying to get some feedback on the blog really, what sort of things you like to see and read in the blog how I might improve my writing anything that will help me make this a more enjoyable blog to read, just post a comment down below it will be much appreciated.
This past week saw my step up my riding a little or at least try by starting to ride on the open road again, my routes as you can see from my past entries have been on cycle paths and trails well away from the road, pretty simple affairs really. The rides them selves went pretty well but they took a lot out of my legs with all the climbing and constant load on me, I managed a ride on Monday and Wednesday both around the 10 mile mark and on open road and a body weight session on Thursday, even before my body weight session on the Thursday I was feeling it not just in my legs but my entire body was feeling the effects of the workouts everything felt alive and tired and come Friday I can only say I had my first real food binge in ages, I was craving serious food.
This misjudgment as I will call it that has shown up some serious flaws in how I am doing things, I am basically not tracking my food intake, my best weight loss last summer was from my tracking everything although I think my numbers were wrong at the time but it comes back to the fact I have got out of the habit.
Last summer I was working on the eating 1800cals a day but recently I have checked my BMR and I need a whopping 2500 just to keep the body alive, add into that each bike session is 800-1000cals in an hour and I was more than a little off in my math, oh and I need to drink more water.
So there it is a summary of last week it has been yet another learning experience but that is what it is all about I just need to work on creating a sustainable energy that will allow me to loose weight and get fitter at the same time.
Okay getting that out of the way, both my brother and me have been looking at improving our camp gear for the future and for me doing touring/bivi biking in a year or so and we have come across some really good stuff that is good enough for regular camping but is also compact and light enough to be used for touring from Alpkit, they do a pretty basic range of products but according to reviews it is very good, I actually bought my brother a lamp from them for his birthday and it is really good so good I am going to get one for myself too plus new sleep mats as well. Oh and I may have finally found a jacket that will fit around my coast line just waiting for it to arrive in the shop so i can try it on so fingers crossed.
I might be getting ahead of myself here but I have been shopping around looking to replace my disc brakes on the mountain bike already and I have narrowed it down to either Shimano's SLX or XT units they are stupidly reliable and work a well everything you need in a brake really, I have also considered assembling the new frame I have had in storage at the same time possibly with the carbon fork I have too but I will see how things go as I wont build anything until mid to end of April.
Time to wrap up now I think as I need to get some sleep but before I do I just want to thank everyone who commented on my blogs recently and to Vinny for pointing out something that well I have been putting off, Where are the pictures? Well there have not really been any while I have been riding for a couple of reasons A: I have been pushing hard on my rides so I try not to stop and B: it has been dark when I ride. But rest assured I do take my little camera out when I ride so I will get some pictures with that and get out with my good gear too Vinny just got to organize my time a little better than I am.
Awesome! Can't wait to see some pics! Also, would love to see pics of the new bike if you put it together.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the riding man. Seems like you have a plan...now go execute it! :)
