February was not quite the month I had hoped it would be but then again it turned out so much more in other ways that I did not, one of the key problems that I faced was with the weather and although I don't mind rain this was some pretty heavy stuff so the sensible choice was not to ride so I did not but here is were I fell down I have become mentally set on riding my miles that I forgot the key...flexibility, when I was forced off the bike by weather I should have taken a strength option and done some body weight sessions, I think all month I only got one session with the weights in and that is shocking when considering how much time and possible workouts so I can consider myself having had a thorough bollocking.
But out of those ashes something good came as I found myself riding up hills again yes hills! I managed to fit in a couple of circuits of my hill climb route that went reasonably well but the real cream of the month came on the very last day when I did my first ride out on the open road in the back lanes, one serious victory for me and one I am proud of and something that I am going to build on.
So after all that did I make my goals well no I managed just under 60 miles, the goals I do set are easy IF i can maintain my focus and get regular rides in so this month I don't get to have my treat but it is put on hold for now as I will have one.
So with the passing of February we welcome in March and a fresh month of challenges and training and hopefully better weather, once again I have set my 100 miles of bike but this time I have also set myself 10 miles of trail hiking too, so fingers crossed and praying to the weather gods for some dry rides and as a reward I am going to treat myself to some new disc brakes for the bike, probably some nice Hope discs but it depends on my bonus at the end of the month.
Mondays awesome ride
I had recorded a video blog to accompany today's entry but it founds it's way into the recycle bin for several reasons may be I will try again another time as it is a great idea and I do want to try, I think it is because I have not really felt 100% recently, I have never had the greatest self confidence and it has reared it's head a little recently with a slice of insecurity thrown in partly about my riding but about how I interact with others especially on line from chatting on social media to commenting on blogs, I live in the constant fear of being nice....how fucked up is that. Anything I type I have to think long and hard about what I put down as I am worried that I many be seen as being creepy or that I might be trying to make advances to people when all I want to do is be nice and to make others feel better about themselves, it is this fear that keeps me hiding away and make me shut people out of my life even those that I would really like to have as a part of mine, hell I am a mess.
Right going to wrap it up here, I took today off the bike as I have been suffering from tummy cramps, I am going to get some new water bottles tomorrow I think just to be on the safe side so for now happy trails people.
If someone can't be nice/constructive to you on your blog.... well fuck them.
ReplyDeleteI'm continually proud of your accomplishments and the journey you have taken to get where you are!
Don't worry so much about what others think. Just be yourself. You are a fabulous guy and deserve to be as social as you want to make yourself. That being said, I know it's very hard to step out of the comfort zone.
ReplyDelete"I am worried that I many be seen as being creepy or that I might be trying to make advances to people when all I want to do is be nice and to make others feel better about themselves." Well, good for you...do it! Start small then keep on keeping on. Anyone worth knowing will know you're paying them a compliment and turning into a cyber stalker! If they think otherwise...well, that's their problem...not yours.
Good luck with March's challenge. I know you'll do great!
I really hope you kick ass in March. Would love to see you get those breaks. I do have one complaint about this post...No beautiful scenic pictures of your ride are included in this? ;) Take care man and here's to a great March!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
