Feb and going the distance

Wow here we are February already I cant believe just how fast things are going I am afraid to blink in case I miss another month, although February is a short month I am going to be packing a fair bit into this one as I have once again signed up for the go the distance challenge.
This months challenge is looking pretty good and part of it is giving ourselves a little love each day ( no not that kind you smutty minded sods.......well maybe later) and recognizing something about ourselves that we love, given how much of a low SO (self opinion) I have had over the years this is going to be a good way of growing for me and maybe gain some confidence. For the #FebGTD this month I have set my self the target of 100 miles in 28 days and if I manage it and I know I will then I am going to treat myself to a deep tissue massage to work the winter cold out of my body and maybe rectify some problems.

So as I have a lot of miles to do this year I have finally got around to replacing my old shimano cycling shoes for a nice new pair of Bontrager shoes.

So far they are lovely and comfy and fit my wide feet quite well and allow the wearing of some warm socks, just got to set up the cleats and get some miles in on them speaking of miles......

I have managed to get out on the bike twice already this week and both rides were tough, Mondays ride was cold, my feet were frozen solid and affecting my pedaling rhythm not to mention the pain when I tried to defrost my toes.

Wednesdays ride was quite mild but was windy as hell, my feet were going numb thanks to my shoes and I was just struggling to ride this day, but I got out and I rode and that rocks.

Well that's this weeks rides not a great deal to talk about but I got out there, with the arrival of my new shoes I am looking forward to getting out and going further it should be good.

Other bike news...yeah racing.....I am going to be doing some this year, we have out team of three sorted for the Brighton Big Dog this year well august to be precise, the big dog is a 6 hour cross country enduro and will be a good crash course for me to re polish my handling skills ready for the Dusk til Dawn later in October.

Well that's all for now as I really need to get some sleep.

  2. Love reading about your riding! Keeps me enthused and excited for the day that it isn't -25 here and I can ride outside again.
