Anyone who has followed my blog will be aware of how much I have been struggling with both motivation and the weather recently often only getting one ride a week, things were tough and no progress was being made and it has been getting under my skin more than a little bit, there have been times when I have just wanted to hang it all and head for the sofa with a pizza or three, that did not happen thankfully and thanks to my February week off, something that has been a tradition for years now, a week where I can get out and about in the daylight it has been something that has kept me riding for years and this year was no different, that week I managed to get one ride in and had planed on a second ride up in Brighton with my brother heading up along the shore front but although I did take the bike up we did not get out as we were both very tired and just enjoyed the company and playing with my nephews....soul food.
Well it all payed off Monday the weather through the day was terrible but soon cleared in the afternoon and I prepped the bike for a ride that evening, this time was something different, out on the main road there is a pretty nice circuit about 4.5 miles long that I can do that involves some climbing something that i have been nervous about adding into my routine but something I have desperately needed to add to my program, well any nervousness was soon replaced with hurt as I pointed my bike up the hill and spun my way up to do two laps, after my legs were pretty sore but felt good, the following day Tuesday again stayed dry and so without any fuss but some sore legs I headed out on the bike again this time a ride on open road, things felt okay but I seem to be struggling with maintaining a decent cadence that I feel comfortable with riding at, it might be the gearing on the Inbred I am not sure but were I feel comfortable is right between two gears something I am not used too as in previous years I have had SRAM cassettes in the 11-34 flavor not my current Shimano one, but in a couple of months I am rebuilding the bike onto the new On One Inbred frame and fork I bought back in 2009, going to be tough retiring the fame I bought so many years ago now but it will be put to use later this year as a winter hack possibly a single speed mud machine who knows.
Okay you have seen me add a couple of videos to my blog over the past few months well a couple of very lovely lady blogger's have taken the idea a step further and have added a video entry to their blogs and well it is kind of cool and something I might try for myself, I have wanted to do something from the trail side maybe a meet n greet kind of thing I am not sure but if there is anything you want to know about me than put a comment below or something and I will try and answer it.
In other news my work with the foam roller seems to be going well, I am loving that tingly feeling after I have worked my IT bands they feel so free and loose it is great in time with a good stretching regimen I think I can avoid all the painful injuries that have stopped me riding when I was at my peak.
Well that's it for just now as i am going to do my vidlog thing next Monday/Tuesday and to summarize my #FebGTD challenge.
Mondays hill climb session
Tuesdays road ride
