Right enough of that let get down to the nuts and bolts of what is happening well once again my post Christmas gremlins have struck again, I may have avoided being ill for Christmas but they are not letting me get away free so yet again I have been grounded with an ear infection so yet more pills and shit pumped into my already troubled stomach my body is NOT having a good time right now and no progress is being made and well it is really upsetting my calm.
I have never really liked the post Christmas period at all, there is just something about the January February period that just is not good for the soul, it is colder and darker some how and just makes getting out harder I know it was easier back when I commuted to work via bike as I would just extend my ride home a few miles and kept things turning over until the sun shone once more. So why are things so messed up right now? Well I have not really been 100% since I came down with the virus in November, It took me out for nearly a month and broke the momentum I gained through the summer months and from there I lost all focus, since Christmas I have not felt right my stomach has felt really bloated and gassy like I am about to explode probably a combination of all the rich food and the medication I have been off and on since November.
So yeah not good but I have a plan (ques up A-team music) well to kick off I have a week off work to recharge my batteries and get some rides in plus I have started taking multi vitamins each day, as for my stomach well I have a friend to thank for this recommendation, she suggested I try some Boots Biobalance Travel as it has really helped her tummy so well i am going to give it a try and well fingers crossed I can get things sorted and back on track.
Speaking of back on track me and my brother have put a head together and sorted out the arrangements for the two races we have planned this year, we have set up a 3 man team for both the Brighton Big Dog a 6 hour enduro this August and for Dusk Til Dawn a 12 hour night race in October so that's sorted and something to aim for, I cant get over the fact I am putting myself under a lot of pressure here to get fit and perform on the day and well i just don't want to disappoint everyone and myself, they are tough goals and I have a shit load of work to do, hey maybe even reach my #FebGTD goal this month.
On the up side my foam roller arrived today, it's long it's blue and it's good for you lol
and to top it off another good friend posted up a blog entry on the facts, myths and how to use them correctly, perfect timing and I am hoping it will supplement my stretching perfectly and help my poor IT bands out.
Lastly I managed to get out for a ride tonight, not the greatest by far but it felt good to be out.
Well as you can see it is the same route again, I really want to find some better routes preferably with some hills in too so I can build some strength but I just don't feel fit/confident enough to hit the open road just yet maybe in a month or so fingers crossed.
Well that's all for now I am going to head for bed I am going to do another blog in a few days after i have been up to see my brother in Brighton for his birthday, we are going to go for a gentle ride along the seafront and grab some lunch so expect some photo's.
Simon.

Make sure you keep us posted on how you are doing. I like the foam roller saying. That was cute. Looking forward to the seafront photos :)
