Wow who replaced my legs with a good pair? Well who ever did thanks, hard to think that we are now into the third week of the October Go the Distance #OctGTD and things are going really well here but it has not been smooth sailing as I have had some ups and some serious downs too as once again tiredness and being ill hit me hard and again I allowed being single to get to me they was only it can...my heart but thanks to the aid of some awesome people and well my own hard hard-headedness I pulled through and for the last 2 weeks I have been pushing up the intensity and distance of my rides and I am well on target to make my goal this month....and it is this I want to talk about next if would allow me to indulge in a well healthy rant.
Earlier on today I had what I call my "random acts of clarity" and I came up with such a simple statement "#Octgtd is not just for October, setting good goals every month can keep you motivated and help your long term goals." and it was not until I was reading the blog of a friend Fat Girl vs World that I discovered that more than 50% of the participants had still not even achieved 50% of their goal, I am not going to say anything as we each have our own daemons so to speak and I don't wish to appear judgmental.
What I do want to touch on here is why we are doing this, for many it is a simple case of I just want to loose X amount of weight for Y reason for others a bit more but to make it to our goals is going to take a serious amount of commitment we have to WANT to do this for ourselves not for anyone else, others can provide the heart and the inspiration when things are tough we all need some one at some point but the journey is ours.
I have to admit that I with my brother was planning on doing an #OctGTD already or well rather the idea of it a simple task of setting simple monthly goals to keep me focused and to stop me getting demoralized I mean lets face it look at Mt Everest and you see and bloody great mountain but see the climb in stages or camps and all of a sudden it does not seem so big when I was racing my mountain bike I would use a similar mental game by breaking down each lap into 3-4 sections I found that as much as it hurt I knew that is I could get through one section I could do them all and also the lap would pass quite quickly.
Right I am off to bed as i need some sleep big time, another day another session and there will be some more on my cross stitch and weather permitting some nice photo's it has been far too long.

One of my best friends said "You can do anything for 45 seconds." And as I exercise more and more it's becoming "You can do anything for 5 minutes." It's about breaking things down into small and managable goals. But you have to make a goal in order to achieve it. You have to know your committment (mentally and physically) to get to said goals.
ReplyDeleteI think you're doing phenomenally! Keep it up!
