Hey everyone well once again I have failed to put out any frequent updates but every time I found time to sit down and put a post up I have been distracted and well forgotten pretty lame I know, so I am going to start off by saying a big hi to all my new friends on Twitter and on Facebook your all awesome.
Well there has been a fair bit going on and as you can guess from the post title I have been a rider down, it started about 2 weeks ago when I had a week away from work and during which I wanted to get some longer distances sessions under my belt but it was apparent in the first couple of days off that I was far more fatigued than I thought and I was in no shape to do anything. It was my own fault really I had not had a break since February and going that long was a little too long for my body, so I spent the week just relaxing with some stretching the only activity I did was walking the pup, so that was my week off and back into the routine or so I thought my first session back on the Tuesday was a lovely walk with the dog on my short Burrator loop everything was going well and I was enjoying it but I noticed that I was struggling to get my heart rate up into my normal working zones well I had a rest day after and all seemed okay but when I woke up on the Thursday I was a mess, my throat was raw and I felt terrible and the Friday was even worse I woke up and I was dizzy and wanted to throw up this stayed until Saturday morning when the fever broke and I feeling much more like my normal self.
Well that was the bad now for the good well before my week off I managed a couple of weeks doing four sessions without feeling to strained so I was quite happy about that and I am looking forward to building on this over the winter months.
This weekend as I was feeling much better I popped over to Newnham Pk here in Plymouth for the Shred Super Cyclo Cross a night time flood lit cyclo cross event, the event was absolutely brilliant with some super fast racing good live music free beer (I was driving) and just the great atmosphere there is at any race at newnham I took some photo's that I am going to process later and I also took some video footage again with my Iphone.
Well that's the past couple of weeks covered so what is happening? I still have yet to get out and take anymore photo's BUT I am getting out this coming week as the conditions are almost right for some locations that I have wanted to shoot recently.
As for the diet well i don't know if I have managed to hold any weight gains at bay this past 2 weeks I doubt that I have but it is not the end of the world the important thing here is that I stay focused now and concentrate on getting the work outs in and being good with what I am eating.
Winter is coming....well not far away now and I am going to have to adjust my program/routes slightly, biggest change will be shifting my walking to road work and I am not keep on this as it is hard on my knee's but i am getting a good quality pair of trainers just for this and a set of Nordic walking poles to really get the whole body involved in the session, thankfully the bike sessions can remained unchanged thanks to my awesome lights.
Another thing I am planning on doing next spring is trying out Canoeing, I have long fancied the idea of ocean kayaking and I thought this would be a great place to learn and see how I like it.
well that's all for now I hope this has not been a ramble and made some sense next update will be this year lol and will include some lovely photo's and yes some of my cross stitch.
Cya for now....Simon.
